Thats right, The The Punkles are a German band that play punk versions of beatles songs in the style of the Ramones. I may alienate myself from the community by admitting this, but I kind of like this band, or maybe I should say their versions aren’t as nausea inducing as the originals. I only wish they’d been able to find some better material to perform. I can understand wanting to plug-in to the FF cash machine, but show some damn respect to the Ramones!

There are a lot of similarities and parallels between the beatles and the Ramones. They both worked with Phil Spector, he rescued Let it Be and recorded End of the Century. The beatles wore leather jackets and played rock when they started, the Ramones wore leather jackets and played rock for their entire career.
The beatles were together for roughly 10 years and toured briefly before retiring to the studio for the rest of their careers, put out 12 albums,changed their image to become stars, became media darlings and had their pretty faces on every magazine cover and were loved by all, saturated the airwaves thanks to a giant advertising push, and supposedly changed the world of music by inspiring bands like…Oasis?

The Ramones were together for 22 years and toured non-stop until one of them died, put out 14 albums, never changed their image to appeal to anybody, were largely shunned by the media, were too ugly to get on magazine covers and rarely were played on the radio, were despised and laughed at, helped spearhead punk and created a new style of music, influencing bands like…The Clash.

Who inspires more respect; the band that never sold out, never stopped working, never gave up, never followed a trend and forced the world to accept them for what they were; or the beatles.

If I was ever forced to listen to FF garbage, it would be performed by the Ramones. Thankfully, the Ramones recorded their own music so I won’t have to. The Punkles have six albums out, check them out here.
